The TRA Medical Imaging Foundation is delighted to announce that it has accepted three students from Tacoma Community College (TCC) into its scholarship program. These students, all in their first year of the Radiologic Technologist program, hail from the 2025 Spring cohort. The Fall Imaging Science 2025 cohorts from both the Radiologic Technologist and Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs will have the chance to apply starting October 10, 2025.
The TRA Medical Imaging Foundation scholarships are awarded to students with financial need and career aspirations. The program aims to support students facing financial constraints while providing mentorship to help them achieve their professional goals. This mentorship involves connecting students with experienced technologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals who offer resources, ongoing support, guidance, and accountability throughout the program.
The TRA Medical Imaging Foundation Education Fund, established in 2020 with four scholars, has experienced remarkable growth. To date, the Foundation has celebrated the graduation of 21 scholars and will continue to provide scholarships and mentoring for up to 22 ongoing and new scholars in 2026, including those from Tacoma Community College, Bates Technical College, and Olympic College.
Graduates successfully complete the Scholar and Mentorship program. Many post-graduation scholars actively participate in the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation Alumni Association, contributing to the advancement of medical imaging as a profession through advocacy and raising awareness about the numerous career opportunities available to medical imaging professionals.
The primary objective of the TRA Medical Imaging Foundation’s Education Fund is to expand educational opportunities in Radiologic Technology, Sonography, CT, MRI, and Mammography. By doing so, we aim to generate job opportunities, alleviate workforce shortages, and ultimately enhance the quality of healthcare services in our community.
